The Brain is an independent record, publishing, and management company founded by Freddy Wexler. The Brain specializes in the discovery and development of new talent across multiple genres of music. Its publishing catalogue includes songs recorded by high profile artists, including Lil Wayne, Akon, Selena Gomez, Enrique Iglesias, Jill Scott, and Demi Lovato. The Brain has joint ventures with Capitol Records, Disney, Verve, 19 Entertainment, Warner/Chappell, VF2 Publishing, and Prescription (Rx) Songs.
The Brain House: in 2012, Wexler sent six people one-way tickets to Los Angeles, inviting them to work and live together in a home in West Hollywood. Attempting to forge the optimal creative environment, Wexler essentially built a modern-day songwriting commune. The unfamiliar group, which comprised two artists and four songwriters who had never before met, became a highly successful creative collective. Residents of the house were the first people to officially sign contracts with The Brain.
