W Magazine: Cara Delevingne Plays a Homeless Drifter in Her First Music Video Role in Three Years
05 Oct 2018/Filed in: PressWell before Cara Delevingne made her big-screen debut, in 2012’s Anna Karenina, she was a music video star: She made her tiny-screen debut in 2010, in Bryan Ferry’s “You Can Dance.” But not since her turn in the Taylor Swift revenge fantasy “Bad Blood,” in 2015, had Delevingne lent her talents to another musician’s song (her own video for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets aside)—until this week, when the Spencer Lee Band unveiled the visual accompaniment for “River Water,” a track off the band’s recently released self-titled debut album.
Paper: Cara Delevingne Delivers Powerful Performance in ‘River Water’
04 Oct 2018/Filed in: PressBefore Spencer Lee got his big break as the frontman of his eponymous band, signing with superstar manager Scooter Braun, he was homeless. Sleeping on a blown up mattress in the back of his car, Lee wrote the lyrics to his song “River Water,” when he was living on the streets of LA. “Fuck being homeless. It sucks,” Lee says about the single, “I want people to keep fighting the good fight. This is for all of them still out in those streets at night.”
It is from this personal experience that the video for “River Water” was born. In her most moving performance to date, model and actress Cara Delevingne portrays a the life of a homeless woman coping with addiction. Digging through dumpsters, busking for a few quarters, and sleeping in the gutter, Delevingne deals with heartbreaking hardship after hardship in a way that feels very raw and vulnerable.

“River Water” is extremely personal for the band’s frontman Spencer Lee, who wrote the lyrics to the song when he was homeless in LA before he was discovered by manager Scooter Braun. Reflecting on his strong connection to the song and reclaiming ownership of his past, Lee ends the music video with simple text that reads, “Her story is my story.”

Who also happens to be Wexler himself.
Penn — whose new single “Babylon” is premiering exclusively below via its video — is the artist alter ego for Wexler, a name that just “popped out.” He has a “full body of work” ready to come out under the moniker, hopefully this year, and is happy to be returning to what he set out to do in music in the first place…
New Video: Spencer Lee’s voice is already classic on “With A Little Help From My Friends”
27 Apr 2018/Filed in: PressSpencer Lee has a big voice out of little Fort Scott, Kansas, and the major backing that will get it heard. We spoke on the phone last week — now 25, he was raised in a small town and literally scouted as a teen: after someone saw him perform at a local talent show, they called up the grocery store where he worked, suggested he come out to L.A. to work on music, and he quit on the spot…
