Cara Delevingne stars in the music video for “River Water” by The Spencer Lee Band, which you can watch now!

The music video finds Cara waking up homeless and begging for change, based on the band’s frontman, Spencer Lee, and his experience when he was homeless in Los Angeles. He was discovered by Scooter Braun who signed him to Republic Records in 2017.

Before Spencer Lee got his big break as the frontman of his eponymous band, signing with superstar manager Scooter Braun, he was homeless. Sleeping on a blown up mattress in the back of his car, Lee wrote the lyrics to his song “River Water,” when he was living on the streets of LA. “Fuck being homeless. It sucks,” Lee says about the single, “I want people to keep fighting the good fight. This is for all of them still out in those streets at night.”

It is from this personal experience that the video for “River Water” was born. In her most moving performance to date, model and actress Cara Delevingne portrays a the life of a homeless woman coping with addiction. Digging through dumpsters, busking for a few quarters, and sleeping in the gutter, Delevingne deals with heartbreaking hardship after hardship in a way that feels very raw and vulnerable.

The Spencer Lee Band is painting a vivid picture of frontman Spencer Lee’s past days of living on the streets of Los Angeles in their new music video for their single “River Water,” where his experience is portrayed by model-actress Cara Delevingne.

“I was homeless in these L.A. streets when I wrote ‘River Water,’” he says in a press release about the single. “F— being homeless. It sucks. I want people to keep fighting the good fight. This is for all of them still out in those streets at night.”

Spencer Lee has a big voice out of little Fort Scott, Kansas, and the major backing that will get it heard. We spoke on the phone last week — now 25, he was raised in a small town and literally scouted as a teen: after someone saw him perform at a local talent show, they called up the grocery store where he worked, suggested he come out to L.A. to work on music, and he quit on the spot…
